Nintendo has officially announced that the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 will be released on June 5, 2025, priced at $450. The console’s launch is accompanied by an extensive array of games, including both new titles and enhanced editions of existing favorites.
Launch Day Titles
Among the standout titles available on launch day is Mario Kart™ World, an open-world racing adventure supporting up to 24 players. This latest installment in the beloved series introduces interconnected courses and a variety of customizable racer costumes.
Additionally, enhanced editions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be available. These versions offer improved performance, higher resolution, and HDR support.
Upcoming Releases
Following the initial launch, several notable titles are scheduled for release:
- Donkey Kong™ Bananza (July 17, 2025): A 3D adventure featuring Donkey Kong exploring a vast underground world.
- Super Mario Party Jamboree (July 24, 2025): This edition includes the Jamboree TV expansion, adding more minigames and camera support.
- Metroid Prime™ 4: Beyond – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition (2025): Players will join Samus Aran as she explores the mysterious planet Viewros.
- Kirby Air Riders (2025): Directed by Masahiro Sakurai, this title brings Kirby back in a new racing adventure.
Third-Party and Exclusive Titles
The Switch 2 will also feature a variety of third-party and exclusive games:
- The Duskbloods (2026): A new multiplayer title from FromSoftware, creators of Dark Souls and Elden Ring.
- Hades II: A sequel to the acclaimed original, coming first to Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.
- Street Fighter™ 6: The latest installment in the iconic fighting series, optimized for Switch 2.
- Sega Titles: Sega has announced five titles for the Switch 2 launch window, including Sonic the Hedgehog and Persona 5 Royal.
Retro Compatibility and Online Services
Nintendo has confirmed that the Switch 2 will be compatible with games from the original Switch. Additionally, through Nintendo Switch Online, players will have access to GameCube classics such as F-Zero GX, Soul Calibur II, and Super Mario Sunshine.
Pricing and Availability
The Nintendo Switch 2 is priced at $450 and will be available worldwide starting June 5, 2025. New game titles are expected to be priced around $100.
