Early Life and Education
Born on February 3, 1990, in Miami, Florida, Kingston relocated to Kingston, Jamaica, at the age of six. He attended Ocho Rios High School for three years before returning to the United States. His grandfather, Lawrence “Jack Ruby” Lindo, was a notable Jamaican reggae producer, which influenced Kingston’s musical direction.
Musical Career
Kingston’s breakthrough came in 2007 with his debut single, “Beautiful Girls,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart. His self-titled debut album, released the same year, peaked at number six on the Billboard 200 and included hits like “Take You There.” In 2009, he released his second album, “Tomorrow,” featuring the top-five single “Fire Burning.” His third album, “Back 2 Life,” was released in 2013. Throughout his career, Kingston collaborated with artists such as Justin Bieber, Flo Rida, and Nicki Minaj.
Legal Issues
In July 2024, Kingston and his mother were indicted on several federal wire fraud charges. They were convicted in March 2025.
