LOS ANGELES, CA – At CinemaCon 2025, Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios unveiled the title of the upcoming Spider-Man film: “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.” Scheduled for release on July 31, 2026, the movie will see Tom Holland reprising his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man.
Plot and Creative Direction
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is set to explore a fresh narrative arc for Peter Parker, inspired by the 2008 comic storyline of the same name. In this storyline, Peter’s marriage to Mary Jane Watson is erased from existence, leading to significant changes in his personal and superhero life. The film is expected to delve into the consequences of this altered reality, offering audiences a new perspective on Spider-Man’s journey.
Destin Daniel Cretton, known for directing “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” will helm the project. Joining Holland in the cast is Zendaya, who will reprise her role as MJ Jones-Watson. New additions to the cast include Sadie Sink, though her specific role has yet to be disclosed.
Production and Release
Production for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is slated to commence in the summer of 2025, with filming expected to begin later this year. The film is strategically positioned between major Marvel releases, following “Avengers: Doomsday” on May 1, 2026, and preceding “Avengers: Secret Wars.”
